Active Milligrams vs. Emulsion Weight

Throughout the purchasing and fulfillment process, you will see a few different numbers and units. To keep things as clear as possible, here is a quick guide to understanding the distinction between active weight and emulsion weight.

Every order involves two distinct weights: the weight of the pure cannabinoid and the total weight of the liquid carrier system. Because our standard emulsion concentration is 5%, these two numbers differ by a factor of roughly twenty.

Our general rule: We work in active weight across nearly everything you'll see from us.

The Two Numbers Defined

• Active Weight (The Payload): Refers strictly to the pure cannabinoid itself.

• Emulsion Weight (The Carrier): Refers to the cannabinoid plus the water-miscible system delivering it.

At a 5% concentration, every 1 gram of liquid emulsion delivers 50 milligrams of active cannabinoid.

In practice: If your order specifies 50 grams, you are purchasing 50 grams of active cannabinoid. The physical material arriving at your facility will weigh approximately 1 kilogram.

Where You Will See Active Weight

When a quantity originates from us, it typically refers to the active cannabinoid payload rather than the weight of the emulsion itself. This applies to:

• Price lists

• Formal quotes

• Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs)

• Invoices

Why We Package to Active Weight

Emulsion potency varies slightly from batch to batch. While always within strict specification limits, no two lots test identically to the decimal.

If we packaged by physical emulsion weight, that natural lot-to-lot variance would transfer to you, meaning two identical orders could contain slightly different total amounts of THC. Packaging to grams of active payload means the total liquid volume adjusts to the lab analysis of that specific batch, so you receive the full amount of active cannabinoid you ordered.

Summary

Two weights, one convention. Nearly everything we publish, from quotes to packaging, is measured in active cannabinoid. Unless explicitly noted otherwise, any quantity from us refers to the active payload.
